Description
The Slatina area is an important breeding site for many birds connected to reedbeds such as Čapljica Voljak (the only location of this species in Prague), Veliki Cvrčić, Kokošica, Veliki Trstenjak, Trstenjak cvrkutić, Mlakuša or Močvarna Strnadica. Also the Eja Močvarica is breeding here. On the pond itself breeds many pairs of Ćubasti Gnjurac, Liska, Divlja Patka and a few pairs of Glavata Patka and Krunata Patka. In the linked rural areas breed Rusi Svračak, Pjegavi Cvrčić, Slavuj and many others. Nearby there is a breeding site of Bregunica.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Modrovoljka, Smeđoglavi Batić, Crnoglavi Batić, Crnoglava Muharica, Patka Pupčanica and many other species of waterfowl, Šljuka Kokošica, Vivak and many, many more species.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch Čvorak murmuration. Also Lastavica and Žuta Pastirica come here to spend a night.
During the weekend the location can be overcrowded by people such as fishermen or bikers so I recommend you to visit the location during weekdays. Please do not disturb birds in their breeding habitats and use just visible pathways!
