Protected area of 24 hectare located around a bushy pond with reedbeds that is good for seeing waterbirds.
Chropyňský pond and surroundings are part the Upper Moravian Valley and a protected area. It houses a big colony of Riječni Galeb. In the past sometimes even up to 5000 pairs (one of the most numerous colonies in Central Europe). There is irregular nestling of Crnogrli Gnjurac and many common and less common wetland birds can be seen here. Like Veliki Trstenjak, Trstenjak Rogožar, Patka Pupčanica, Liska, Mlakuša, Ćubasti Gnjurac, Mali Gnjurac, Čapljica Voljak, Močvarna Strnadica and Mala Prutka. The pond is also visited by Bukoč, Eja Močvarica, Siva Čaplja, Vivak and Vodomar.
On the northern side of the pond is a parking place (see the P on the map). From there you can make a circular walk (2 km) around the pond. You will pass the observation tower on the northwestern edge of the pond. The tower is 7 m high, the covered viewing platform is located at a height of 3 m.
