The Schallebroek ponds are located on a busy migratory bird route in the Demer valley. This wide valley has a naturally winding river, marshlands, grasslands and forests. Birds that you can encounter on and around the Schallebroek ponds are Patka Žličarka, Kržulja, Glavata Patka, Krunata Patka, Vodomar, Kokošica, Krivokljuna Prutka, Šljuka Kokošica, Crnorepa Muljača en Gorska Pastirica.
