Description
The Put van Vlissegem was created by the extraction of sand and clay and has salty water. Because the lake does not freeze over during the winter months, the lake attracts wintering water birds such as Zviždara, Patka Žličarka, Patka Lastarka, Kržulja and Crnogrli Gnjurac. Breeding birds include Trstenjak Rogožar, Kokošica, Mali Gnjurac, Utva and Krunata Patka. During migration there is a chance of seeing wading birds such as Crna Prutka, Krivokljuna Prutka, Crnokrila Prutka, Mala Prutka and Pršljivac. There is a bird hide on the western bank of the lake.

Nederlands: De Put van Vlissegem is ontstaan door de winning van zand en klei en heeft zilt water. Doordat de plas tijdens de wintermaanden niet toevriest trekt de put overwinterende watervogels zoals Zviždara, Patka Žličarka, Patka Lastarka, Kržulja en Crnogrli Gnjurac. Broedvogels zijn onder meer Trstenjak Rogožar, Kokošica, Mali Gnjurac, Utva en Krunata Patka.
