This lake near Rotselaar is a good start for any novice bird watcher.
The lake near Rotselaar is mainly known for the water sports during the summer period, but in the winter you can find various gulls and other water birds here. Winter visitors such as Sjevernomorska guska and Patka Kreketaljka you will find here in nice numbers. Around the lake you can walk between the trees and you will find many tits and thrushes looking for food. The lake is a good start for any novice birdwatcher. The following rare species have been spotted here in the past: Patka Gogoljica, Crnogrli Plijenor, Patka Njorka, Riđogrli Gnjurac, Veliki svračak, Crvena lunja and Žutokljuni Labud. The top 5 most easily observable species are Liska, Divlja Patka, Riječni Galeb, Ćubasti Gnjurac and Mlakuša.

Nederlands: Het meer van Rotselaar is vooral gekend voor de watersport dat je hier kan beoefenen tijdens de zomerperiode, maar in de winter kan je hier verschillende meeuwen en andere watervogels treffen. Wintergasten zoals Sjevernomorska guska en Patka Kreketaljka zal je hier in leuke aantallen treffen. Rondom het meer kan je tussen de bomen wandelen en tref je de vele mezen en lijsterachtigen op zoek naar voedsel. Het meer is een goede start voor elke beginnende vogelaar. Volgende zeldzame soorten werden hier in het verleden gespot: Patka Gogoljica, Crnogrli Plijenor, Patka Njorka, Riđogrli Gnjurac, Veliki svračak, Crvena lunja en Žutokljuni Labud. De top 5 waarneembare soorten zijn Liska, Divlja Patka, Riječni Galeb, Ćubasti Gnjurac en Mlakuša.
The lake is located at Vakenstraat 18, 3110 Rotselaar. You can walk or cycle around the lake (about 2,5 km). Bus: the 335 (Leuven - Aarschot) of the Lijn stops at the stop 'Rotselaar De Toren'. From there you walk past Sportoase 'de Toren' to 'domain Ter Heide' (10 minutes). Train and Blue-bike: from Wezemaal-Station you can cycle quickly and comfortably to 'De Plas' with the Blue-bike. By car, the car park at swimming zone 'De Plas' is currently only accessible via Provinciebaan and Hellichtstraat. You can also park at Sportoase 'de Toren' and walk the last part (8 minutes).

Nederlands: Het meer ligt bij Vakenstraat 18, 3110 Rotselaar. Je kunt het meer rondom wandelen of fietsen (Ongeveer 2,5 km). Bus: de 335 (Leuven - Aarschot) van de Lijn stopt aan de halte 'Rotselaar De Toren'. Vandaar stap je langs Sportoase 'de Toren' naar 'domein Ter Heide' (10 minuten). Trein en Blue-bike: vanaf Wezemaal-Station kun je met de Blue-bike snel en comfortabel fietsen naar 'De Plas'. Met de auto is de parking aan zwemzone 'De Plas' is momenteel enkel bereikbaar via Provinciebaan en Hellichtstraat. Je kunt ook parkeren aan Sportoase 'de Toren' en het laatste stuk lopen (8 minuten).
