Description

Harry's Hut is the only easily vehicle accessible access to the upper Noosa River system with lowland rainforest, melaleuca swamp & wallum heathland all within easy walking distance. Camping permitted as per National Park fees and regulations and provides excellent access to explore the upper Noosa River and everglades while avoiding the need to paddle across Lake Cootharaba which can be difficult in windy conditions.

Access

Vehicle access is via Harry's Hut Rd off Cooloola Way. These are dirt roads with some corrugations, potholes and washouts, while 4WD high clearance is reccommended you should be able to get in when dry with a standard 2WD car as long as it's not too low and you take it slowly. Plenty of parking in the day use areas or at campsites if camping.

There are local tracks along both sides of the river which also join up with both the long distance walking tracks that traverse Great Sandy National Park - the Cooloola Wilderness Trail and the Cooloola Great Walk.

If exploring the river from here there are additional campsites dotted up the river as far as it is navigable which are only accessible from the river or, in a couple of cases, from the long distance trails or back country trails.
