Description

Woodberry Wetlands has 12 hectares of reed-fringed ponds, hedgerows, meadows and dykes in the middle of the densely built-up areas of Manor House, Stoke Newington and Woodberry Down. It is a big contrast between the surrounding tower blocks and the wild wetland habitat with old oak trees. Woodberry Wetlands supports lots of species throughout the year, from wintering populations of Fuligule milouin, Canard souchet and Canard chipeau, to Rousserolle effarvatte, Phragmite des joncs and Bruant des roseaux who have migrated from Africa for spring and summer. Also Grèbe castagneux, Bergeronnette des ruisseaux, Chardonneret élégant, Bouscarle de Cetti and Fauvette à tête noire can be observed. More than 50 bird species breed in the area.
