Description
Located in the heart of the Somerset Levels and Moors, Greylake is a flat wetland with good paths and reedbed. Thanks to all the water, you can see Vanneau huppé, Chevalier gambette and Bécassine des marais nesting in the spring. Smaller birds such as Phragmite des joncs, Bergeronnette printanière and Bruant des roseaux can be heard and seen singing from the trails.
Over winter, vast flocks of ducks and waders, being hunted by birds of prey. Vanneau huppé and Pluvier doré are sometimes joined by Bécasseau variable, Combattant varié and Barge à queue noire. Large flocks of Canard siffleur, Sarcelle d'hiver and smaller groups of Canard souchet, Canard chipeau and Canard pilet feed in front of the hides. Faucon pèlerin and Busard des roseaux are seen regularly and Faucon émerillon and Busard Saint-Martin occasionally.

There is a free car park off A361 (Ashcott to Taunton road) well signposted just before entrance. There is a boardwalk which meanders from the car park to the hide and provides disabled access. Said to be wheelchair friendly but never tried.

There is one main hide and several 'viewing screens'
