The River Thames at Rainham Marsh is tidal, with mudflats and scrub. At low, or a rising, tide there are waders present, with gulls, waterfowl and passerines.

Description

The principal interest here is the shore. Various waders alternate between here and the adjacent Rainham Marsh reserve. Patient observation will find various passerines in the scrub and grass above the high tide line, although dogwalkers will be a disturbance. It's also possible to scan the near part of the reserve.

Accès

Access is by foot or bike from the RSPB Rainham Marsh carpark (subject to closing times) or from the longdistance footpath between Rainham and Purfleet. It's worth staying on the high path on the sea wall as this allows overall views on both sides. The lower path nearer the waterside can give better views of the mudflats, if needed.
