Riverside reserve based on flooded mineral workings and woodland. Managed by The Parks Trust, who manage open spaces in Milton Keynes.
Floodplain Forest Nature Reserve lies next to the River Ouse in Milton Keynes. Its most obvious birding interest is with the wide variety of water fowl and waders on the open water and mud. However, patience and persistence may be rewarded by songbirds and other land based birds. Whether it's a destination or a break while travelling on the A5 or M1, this place is worth a visit.
The most obvious ways to reach Floodplain Forest are by car or bicycle (this is Milton Keynes!). There is free parking at Manor Farm Court, MK12 5NN (off Old Wolverton Road) and at Haversham Road, with level, surfaced footpaths to the reserve. The nearest rail station is at Wolverton (1 km).
In the reserve, paths are well made and suitable for wheelchairs. As in any nature reserve, dogs should be kept on leads.
There are no toilets or food outlets on or near the reserve. The circular route shown on the map is about 4 km long.
