2,000 hectare reserve, part of the Dovey estuary NNR. An ancient raised bog with tidal sand and mudflats.
Cors Fochno (Borth Bog) is good for heathland birds such as Linotte mélodieuse, Bruant jaune, Tarier pâtre, Bouvreuil pivoine, Bécassine sourde, Bécassine des marais and Bécasse des bois. Also winter waders and wildfowl. Dolphins, seals, porpoises and seabirds may be spotted offshore. At low tide, the tree stumps of a 5,000 year old forest may be seen.
By car, head north from Borth passing the golf club. At the end there is access to the beach where cars can be parked near the dunes. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular route indicated on the map is about 10 km.
