Description

Lake Beyşehir has more than 30 islands. There are historical castles and monuments around the lake. It is a good idea to combine visiting historical places and bird watching. During the winter there are thousands of Foulque macroule, Nette rousse and Fuligule milouin on the lake. Also, significant numbers of Fuligule nyroca can be seen in winter. Pygargue à queue blanche is the impressive top predator in the wetland. They are most probably breeding birds there. You can see adult and juvenile birds there during the winter. They can be migrant birds but it is suitable area also for breeding. There are lots of bays on the shores of the lake. These sheltered areas are attracting birds for gathering especially in winter. On the other hand, this lake is on the transition zone from Mediterranean region to Irano-Turan region. So, there are many habitat types that make this place one of the richest one in terms of birds and wildlife.

On the other hand, it takes almost a day to drive around the lake by car because it is a vast, big lake. If you want to do bird watching and travelling leisurely around the lake, you have to consider that it will take almost a day (190 km!) to drive around it. So it is wiser to take more time.
