Description

The Neeracherried is one of the last large flat bogs in Switzerland. It is regularly mowed and grazed and provides habitat for countless birds. It is worth going to Neeracherried at any time of the year, but a visit is particularly exciting during the bird migration season. It has a Birdlife Center with two hides. You pay an entrance fee (Adults: CHF 7), but that is definitely worth it (and you can use the toilet there). Every year the Birdlife Center has a different exhibition. They also do guided tours by appointment. You can walk a circular route, past reed beds, marshes, small groves and ponds. The circular trail with two observation towers is freely accessible all year round. For the Birdlife Center you have to note the opening times. Depending on how long you observe or photograph, the circular route takes about 1 hour to walk. Among the birds you can see in the area are Chevalier sylvain, Chevalier aboyeur, Chevalier gambette, Bécasseau variable, Bécassine des marais, Canard souchet, Sarcelle d'hiver, Busard des roseaux, Rossignol philomèle, Cigogne blanche, Cigogne noire, Blongios nain, Barge à queue noire, Bergeronnette des ruisseaux, Gorgebleue à miroir, Grand Gravelot, Locustelle luscinioïde, Bruant jaune, Milan royal, Marouette ponctuée, Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Combattant varié and Chevalier arlequin.
