The absolute best way to see Ven is by bike, on the top of the hill after disembarking the ferry there is a bike rental with reasonable prices. From there discover the island on the paths and the dirt roads. The island is mainly agricultural but with beautiful views all sides of the straight. Along the mainroad and at the two harbours a good variety of restaurants can be found.
In the summer time the island does not give any special from a species point of view, but a beautiful landscape with Fauvette grisette , Hypolaïs ictérine , Rousserolle verderolle and Busard des roseaux patroling the fields. On the steep sides down to the sea Hirondelle de rivage breeds in big numbers and in the surrounding sea Guillemot à miroir can be seen.
I dont know how good the island is in migration times, Ven (due to its location) might be an under-visited area and bring more than the national report base shows. Please write additional information in the commentary section below and I'ĺl add it to the post.
