Description
Sjötorpasjön is a good place to see wetland birds during much of the year. The surroundings (deciduous forests and farmland) are also interesting. Among the breeders are Grèbe huppé, Cygne tuberculé, Busard des roseaux and in some years Butor étoilé,Grèbe jougris and Panure à moustaches. Other breeders in the neighbourhood are Milan royal , Pic épeichette, Mésange à longue queue and Hypolaïs ictérine. During migration periods large flocks of Oie cendrée , Bernache du Canada , Canard colvert and Sarcelle d'hiver stay at the lake, often including the odd duck or goose species.
From the birding tower you may see several raptors, especially Buse variable, Buse pattue, Milan royal, Milan noir, Balbuzard pêcheur and Pygargue à queue blanche.
