Before driving on to the bird station, which is located on the southernmost point of the island of Öland, a stop in Ottenby Lund Nature Reserve is worthwhile. Loriot d'Europe is an annual visitor. Other birds you can encounter are Gobemouche à collier, Torcol fourmilier, Balbuzard pêcheur, Milan royal, Coucou gris, Pic noir, Pic épeiche, Pic épeichette and Bondrée apivore.

There are 2 parking spaces, Södra and Norra Parking. The area is fine for exploring on foot. There is a very high bird watch tower. Of course there is a lot of birdlife to see in the forest, but also along the edge you have a lookout over a large wetland (in winter), a large dry plain in summer. Ideal for birds of prey such as Faucon hobereau and Faucon pèlerin. The route shown on the map is about 5 km long.
