Description

Ljusfors lies in the northern part of Östgötaslätten, a large Swedish plain. It is surrounded by large amounts of forest. The coastal meadows are often visited by flocks of Fuligule morillon, Goéland cendré, Goéland argenté, Goéland marin, Mouette rieuse, Garrot à oeil d'or, Canard colvert, Cygne tuberculé, Cygne chanteur, Foulque macroule, Harle bièvre (some times up to 500) Héron cendré and Grand Cormoran in the open not frozen parts of the lake. Smaller amounts of rarer wintering waterfowl like Grèbe castagneux, Harle huppé, Harle piette, Grèbe huppé, and Martin-pêcheur d'Europe.

In the oak meadows tits, woodpeckers, finches winter along with common winter birds like Bouvreuil pivoine, Jaseur boréal, Sizerin flammé, and Pinson du Nord. On the fields geese and swans can be found. Oie cendrée, Bernache du Canada, and Oie des moissons have all been sighted.

During spring and autumn the coastal meadows are filled with large amounts of gulls, waders, passerine birds and terns. Chevalier sylvain, Chevalier gambette, Chevalier guignette, Vanneau huppé, Combattant varié, Bécassine des marais, Petit Gravelot, and Courlis cendré are all observed although there are often not many wadingbirds.

In the spring and summer large amounts of passerine birds can be heard in the forests. Although mostly common birds can be found, also rarer birds like Gobemouche nain, Pic épeichette and Gros-bec casse-noyaux can be observed.

On the islands Rousserolle turdoïde, Mouette rieuse (large colony), Fuligule morillon, Canard chipeau, Bernache nonnette, Oie cendrée, Chevalier gambette and Grand Cormoran likely breed. Common passerines on the coastal meadows are Linotte à bec jaune (rare and only during the migration), Linotte mélodieuse, Bergeronnette printanière, Chardonneret élégant, Pipit farlouse and Alouette des champs.

Many species of dabbling ducks can also be found during this season like Sarcelle d'hiver, Canard siffleur, Canard chipeau, Canard souchet, and Sarcelle d'été. Along the river Bergeronnette des ruisseaux and Martin-pêcheur d'Europe breed, and Cincle plongeur can be found.
