Description

Fläcksjön is a lake with surrounding wetland mainly known for its rich bird life. Although most of the nature reserve is occupied by more or less open fields and wet grasslands, there are also different types of forest environments, mainly in the western part. In Fläcksjön you can observe lots of swans, geese and ducks. The Cygne chanteur often arrives early, already from the end of February and when they are at their peak, the cacophony from hundreds of swans is impressive. During May you have the opportunity to see some wading birds, such as Bécassine des marais, Chevalier culblanc, Combattant varié and Courlis cendré.

Other birds that can be observed in the area are Guifette noire, Sterne pierregarin, Grue cendrée and Garrot à oeil d'or. On summer nights you can sometimes hear Butor étoilé, Râle des genêts and Marouette ponctuée within the reserve area. You have a chance to see Pygargue à queue blanche in the area all year round. A good place to see Cygne chanteur is in the outlet of the Svartån river.
