Description
Edssjön is a lake near Stockholm. Although there are rarely many ducks on the lake the surroundings hold many birds. The southern bay of the lake continues in a large reed area bordered by pastures. On warm early summer nights, the chances are good to hear one of the night and dusk warblers that visit the area during this time. Rousserolle verderolle is heard almost every year. Rousserolle des buissons, Locustelle luscinioïde and Rousserolle turdoïde are rarities that have been observed. As the night falls, many other birds begin to chime in. The call of the Locustelle tachetée is then typical. In the reeds, Butor étoilé and Busard des roseaux nest and you have a good chance of spotting them.
Around the marsh area in the south, moist pastures spread out and here the Bergeronnette printanière thrives, as well as Tarier des prés. Vanneau huppé and Bécassine des marais nest among the tussocks.
Right next door, where the Väsbyån river crosses the railway, Cincle plongeur usually overwinter. Between Antuna farm and the lake stands a deciduous forest. The environment is perfect for Gros-bec casse-noyaux, Chardonneret élégant, Mésange à longue queue and Hypolaïs ictérine.

Edssjön is located directly southwest of the town of Upplands Väsby, 20 km north of Stockholm. There are several areas around the lake you can explore. The map shows a 2.7 km circular walk on the east side of the lake. Note that some parts might be very wet or even not accessible when the water level is high.
