A bay which is directly connected to the lake Ekoln. A rich bird area with a trail, an observation tower, a platform and a bird hide.
The bay of Dalbyvikenis a beautiful place to visit on an early morning. One can walk along the entire eastern side of the bay. In the reeds you will find Butor étoilé, Râle d'eau as well as Bécassine sourde which you can hear sing at night. Out in the open water reside many Grèbe huppé and other waterfowl. On the trail you can find a watch tower, a platform, and a bird hide. It is beneficial to have a spotting scope with you.
By car one can drive from central Uppsala towards Enköping. Right outside of Uppsala you turn left towards Uppsala näs and follow the signs towards Hammarskog, there you will find a large parking lot adjacent to a large red barn. There is also a parking lot at the swimming area beyond this barn, on a gravel road that brings you closer to the bay. Alternatively, you park at Dalkarlskärret and walk 1-2 km through the forest. Click on a P in the map to get directions to the parking of your choice.
By bike (and also by car) one can go south through Uppsala along Vårdsättra. For cyclists, after you have passed Lurbo bro and managed the incline you can choose to continue on the car road or to go left through the forest and follow this car free forest trail.
