Description
Dragonera is an uninhabited islet west of Mallorca that is approximately 3,200 metres in length and has a maximum width of 500 metres. Although its highest hill Pico Popi is only 360 metres high, the island's overall relief is very abrupt, especially considering its small size. Parc Natural de sa Dragonera was designated as natural park in 1995. It is one of the main sites for seabirds and raptors, as well as for migratory birds. There are plenty of Faucon d'Éléonore in the summer, some of which come very close. The island is also a major stopover for the migratory birds arriving from or leaving to Africa.
Birds you can spot include Faucon pèlerin, Goéland d'Audouin, Cormoran huppé, Puffin de Scopoli, Puffin des Baléares, Fauvette des Baléares, Gobemouche méditerranéen, Fauvette mélanocéphale and Monticole bleu.

Dragonera is located close to the western tip of Mallorca opposite the town of Sant Elm. You can only get there by boat. We rented canoes and made the trip there. An adventure too! But there are also ferry boats, organized boat trips and excursions. Closest harbour on Mallorca is Sant Elm, but some boats also leave from Port d'Andratx.
