An excellent area for birdwatching, combining the 'bocage' traditional agricultural landscape with extensive ricefields, perfect for a natural mosaic.

Description

The Canelas route begins at Ribeiro de Canelas and follows this watercourse, a branch of the Ria de Aveiro. It stretches for about 4 km in the shape of a 'U,' where visitors can experience various habitats typical of this region, highlighted by a rural and authentic mosaic known as 'Bocage'.

Quiet, peaceful, it is a very good area for birdwatching, especially during the migration season, housing a number of waders and warblers that occur here in very interesting numbers. There are many signs and posters of environmental education and awareness, as this trail is part of the BioRia Natural Biosfere Reserve.
