Description
The Divor reservoir and its surroundings are great for bird watching. Much of the area is underexplored. The main observation point on the north side is the dam, which allows observing the waters of the reservoir. But as this dam is quite busy with sportsmen and fishermen, the disturbance can be high, so the number of birds present is not always high. So it is also good to explore the other side of the reservoir. On the lake and around the margins you can see ducks, grebes, Flamant rose, herons and waders lake Chevalier guignette and Chevalier aboyeur.
In the surrounding areas many birds can be seen. For example Bruant zizi, Bruant proyer, Coucou geai, Guêpier d'Europe, Huppe fasciée, Pie-grièche méridionale, Cochevis de Thékla, Cochevis huppé, Alouette des champs, Cisticole des joncs, Hypolaïs polyglotte and Fauvette mélanocéphale. Also many birds of prey can be seen flying over the area. In summer you have a good chance on Milan noir, Aigle botté and Vautour fauve. In winter Busard Saint-Martin, Milan royal and Élanion blanc. All year round you can see Buse variable, Busard des roseaux and Faucon crécerelle. Busard cendré can bee seen mostly in August.

The area is located 20 km north of Évora. You can access the area by the network of municipal roads connecting Évora to Arraiolos and Vimieiro. On foot you can access also the small paths that run along the banks of the reservoir and explore the more quiet parts.
