During the spring many waterbirds breed in the Ruda Fishponds Grebes such as Grèbe castagneux, Grèbe huppé and Grèbe jougris. During migration many ducks can be seen, most interesting: Canard pilet, Canard souchet, Canard chipeau, Sarcelle d'été and Sarcelle d'hiver, and sometimes others. Martin-pêcheur d'Europe can be seen every time on the river flowing through the complex. In the reeds you can hear and see Panure à moustaches, Rousserolle turdoïde, Rémiz penduline, Rousserolle effarvatte and various other species of warblers. In the sky raptors such as Pygargue à queue blanche, Buse variable, Épervier d'Europe and Autour des palombes. Various songbird species live in the nearby forest as well. During the migration plenty of shorebirds stop by. Chevalier aboyeur, Chevalier sylvain, Bécassine des marais, Combattant varié, Chevalier culblanc and Chevalier guignette being the most common ones.

One small parking spot behind the bridge on the river. Click on the P in the map for directions. Don't wander of the paths as it's a privately owned area. The area can only be visited on foot. The circular route indicated on the map is about 5 km.
