The lake and the paths around Lake Rusałka are a popular destination for walkers and cyclists, sunbathers in summer, and winter swimmers. The lake is surrounded by a mixed forest and there are many paths around it, thanks to which you can explore the area. It can get crowded on weekends.

Lake Rusałka is well connected to the city center (Poznań). You can reach the place by car, bus, bicycle and tram. You can get around on foot or by bike, and some paths are wheelchair accessible. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking spot.

"Rusalka" means a water nymph - a joke of history. The lake was created during World War II as an artificial reservoir on the Bogdanka stream. The German occupiers used Jewish slaves to build it, and strengthened the bottom with stone slabs from Poznań synagogues and Jewish cemeteries. There are several places around the lake commemorating the victims of mass executions. Despite its macabre past, the place is nice and eagerly visited.

Niemieccy okupanci wykorzystali do jego budowy żydowskich niewolników, a dno umocnili kamiennymi płytami z poznańskich synagog oraz żydowskich cmentarzy. Wokół jeziora znajduje się kilka miejsc upamiętniających ofiary zbiorowych egzekucji. Pomimo makabrycznej przeszłości - miejsce jest ładne i chętnie odwiedzane.
