Description
Lonåsen is a small village in Tunndalen, at the confluence of the rivers Tunna and Lona, about 13 kilometers northwest of the town of Tynset. The village is surrounded by forest and tundra. I stayed here for a month in the winter months of December and January. I regularly saw woodpecker species such as Pic épeiche but also Pic tridactyle and Pic cendré. In addition, Grouse such as Lagopède alpin, Tétras lyre and Grand Tétras. Finch species such as the Gros-bec casse-noyaux and Bouvreuil pivoine. Furthermore, many Sittelle torchepot, Mésange boréale, Verdier d'Europe, Sizerin flammé, Mésange noire, Roitelet huppé, Grand Corbeau and Moineau friquet.

Lonåsen is located 13 kilometers northwest of the town of Tynset. In the general area around Tynset and Lonåsen you have a chance of these sightings, especially in winter. Specifically for this area you can park in Lonåsen and from there follow one of the many hiking trails into the forest. Press P on the map for directions.
