In the Westerheide Alouette des champs are still numerous and during the migration period a stretch of meadow is used by Merle à plastron and buntings. Tarier pâtre can be found on every protruding stem and in summer Faucon hobereau can be seen hunting on a variety of dragonflies. Recently, Engoulevent d'Europe have started to sing occasionally in this heath area.

Nederlands: De Westerheide is een heidegebied in de buurt van Hilversum. Hier is de Alouette des champs nog talrijk en tijdens de trekperiode wordt een strook weiland gebruikt door Merle à plastron en gorzen. Tarier pâtre is te vinden op elke uitstekende stengel en in de zomer is de Faucon hobereau te zien jagend op een verscheidenheid aan libellen. Sinds kort zingen Engoulevent d'Europe af en toe in dit heidegebied.
