Description
The Rietveld is a reed area with a bird hide just north of Elburg on the Drontermeer. This large reed area was created in the 1970s to purify the waste water from the Elburg sewage treatment plant. The Rietland is no longer used for this and nature can take its course. Thanks to the varied food supply, many birds come to this area. Especially a top spot for birdwatching in the spring. Birds you can see or hear in the area during spring include Panure à moustaches, Gorgebleue à miroir, Bruant des roseaux, Phragmite des joncs, Locustelle luscinioïde, Rossignol philomèle, Râle d'eau, Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Balbuzard pêcheur, Nette rousse, Busard des roseaux and Butor étoilé.

Nederlands: Het Rietveld is een groot rietgebied met een vogelkijkhut iets ten noorden van Elburg aan het Drontermeer. Dit grote rietgebied werd in de jaren zeventig aangelegd om het afvalwater van de rioolwaterzuiveringsinstallatie Elburg te zuiveren. Inmiddels wordt het Rietland hier niet meer voor gebruikt en kan de natuur haar gang gaan. Dankzij het gevarieerde voedselaanbod komen er veel vogels naar dit gebied. Vooral een topplek om vogels te kijken in de lente. Vogels die je dan in het gebied kunt zien of horen zijn onder meer Panure à moustaches, Gorgebleue à miroir, Bruant des roseaux, Phragmite des joncs, Locustelle luscinioïde, Rossignol philomèle, Râle d'eau, Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Balbuzard pêcheur, Nette rousse, Busard des roseaux en Butor étoilé.

The bird hide can be reached via the Kamperdijk or Zomerdijk (From Elburg you drive in the direction of Noordeinde). Parking is possible along the road. Click on the P in the map for directions. From the parking lot it is only a 150 meter walk to the bird hide.
