The Straelens Broek is a wetland that is part of the Arcen Estate. It is a marshy area that has been restored to its former glory. Grasslands have been excavated and the Straelens Schuitwater has been restored, a large shallow body of water that attracts many water birds. There is a viewing platform with nice views over the marsh and around the area you can also take a nice walk through the open landscape area and the forests. Among the birds you can see here are Sarcelle d'été, Canard souchet, Garrot à oeil d'or, Grèbe castagneux, Tadorne casarca, Bergeronnette printanière, Tarier pâtre, Grande Aigrette, Cigogne blanche, Chevalier aboyeur, Chevalier culblanc, Bécassine des marais, Vanneau huppé, Courlis cendré en Petit Gravelot.

Nederlands: Het Straelens Broek is een wetland dat deel uit maakt van het Landgoed Arcen. Het is een moerasachtig gebied wat door het Limburgs Landschap in oude glorie is hersteld. Er zijn graslanden afgegraven en het Straelens Schuitwater is hersteld, een groot ondiep water dat veel watervogels aantrekt. Er is een uitkijkplatform met mooi uitzicht over het moeras en rondom het gebied kun je ook een mooie wandeling door open gebied en bossen maken. Vogels die je hier kunt zien zijn Sarcelle d'été, Canard souchet, Garrot à oeil d'or, Grèbe castagneux, Tadorne casarca, Bergeronnette printanière, Tarier pâtre, Grande Aigrette, Cigogne blanche, Chevalier aboyeur, Chevalier culblanc, Bécassine des marais, Vanneau huppé, Courlis cendré en Petit Gravelot.

The Straelens Broek is located between Lingsfort near Arcen and the German border. You can park at the observation tower over the Straelens Broek on the Hanikerweg. Click on the P in the map for directions to the parking lot. You can also walk around the wetland (about 4 km, see the map), you then walk partly along the wetland but also through parts with mixed forests.

Nederlands: Het Straelens Broek ligt tussen Lingsfort bij Arcen en de Duitse grens. Je kunt parkeren op P-plaats bij de uitkijktoren over het Straelens Broek aan de Hanikerweg. Klik op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar de parkeeplaats. Je kunt ook om het gebied heen wandelen (ongeveer 4 km, zie de kaart) en loopt dan deels langs het moerasgebied maar ook door stukken met mooie gemengde bossen.
