The Roggebot forest area cannot be compared with the other forest areas in the province of Flevoland due to the sandy soil and relatively high location. This means that species occur in this wooded area that are hardly found elsewhere in Flevoland. It is a varied forest area with open plains, deciduous and coniferous forest, waterways and other water features. Nice species that breed here are: Bouvreuil pivoine, Gros-bec casse-noyaux, Pic noir, Sittelle torchepot, Mésange huppée, Pipit des arbres, Gobemouche noir and the last few years also Pygargue à queue blanche.

Nederlands: Het Roggebot bosgebied is vanwege de zandige bodem en relatief hoge ligging niet te vergelijken met de andere bosgebieden in de provincie Flevoland. Dit maakt dat in dit bosgebied soorten voorkomen die men elders in Flevoland niet of nauwelijks aantreft. Het is een afwisselend bosgebied met open vlakten, loof- en naaldbos, vaarten en andere waterpartijen. Leuke soorten die hier broeden zijn: goudvink, appelvink, zwarte specht, boomklever, kuifmees, boompieper, bonte vliegenvanger en de laatste paar jaar ook zeearend. Daarnaast zijn hop, klapekster, nachtzwaluw, roodpootvalk en velduil in dit gebied waargenomen.

Roggebotzand is located on the eastern edge of Flevoland, west of Kampen, and south of the mouth of the IJssel. Parking space at Pannenkoekhuis Het Grote Kabouterbos. On the map you can see a walk of 4 km from that parking lot.
