Retention area Woolde is, as the name suggests, an overflow area. The wetland is surrounded by open fields, grasslands and trees. The area has a bird hide and is teeming with songbirds, marsh and meadow birds. Buse variable, Faucon pèlerin and Faucon hobereau hunt in the air, Bernache nonnette breeds successfully every year and Balbuzard pêcheur regularly can be observed in August.

Nederlands: Retentiegebied Woolde is, zoals de naam al aangeeft, een overloopgebied. Het ligt ingeklemd tussen 2 snelwegen en er staat een vogelkijkhut. Het is een wetland omgeven door graslanden en bomen. In dit retentiegebied wemelt het van zang-, moeras- en weidevogels. Buse variable, Faucon pèlerin en Faucon hobereau jagen in de lucht en de Bernache nonnette broedt jaarlijks met succes. In augustus strijkt er regelmatig een Balbuzard pêcheur neer.

Retentiegebied Woolde is located between the towns of Borne and Hengelo, wedged between two highways. It is easily accessible on foot or by bike and is located on the Schildsweg in Hengelo. The area itself is not accessible to motor vehicles. From the Schildsweg there is a path along a canal towards the bird hide. Take the path on the right side of the canal.

Nederlands: Retentiegebied Woolde ligt tussen Borne en Hengelo, ingeklemd door twee snelwegen. Het is gemakkelijk bereikbaar te voet of met de fiets en ligt aan de Schildsweg in Hengelo. Het gebied zelf is niet toegankelijk voor motorvoertuigen. Vanaf de Schildsweg loopt er een pad langs een kanaal richting de vogelkijkhut. Neem het pad aan de rechterkant van het kanaal.
