Description
The Plompe Tower is the church tower (and only remnant) of Koudekerke. A former village on Schouwen-Duiveland that was once swallowed by the waves. This is good place to enjoy the view on the Oosterschelde and Schouwen-Duiveland. Many birds are attracted by the so calles 'inlages', low-lying, moist grasslands that are partly submerged. In spring you see Chevalier gambette, Barge à queue noire, Avocette élégante and Mouette rieuse. In the winter months, thousands of Bernache nonnette and Bernache cravant forage on the brackish grassland.

The Eastern Scheldt (Dutch: Oosterschelde) is a former estuary in the province of Zeeland, Netherlands, between Schouwen-Duiveland and Tholen on the north and Noord-Beveland and Zuid-Beveland on the south. It is also the largest national park in the Netherlands, founded in 2002.
