The Petrusplaat is a less visited place in the Biesbosch, but sometimes good for surprises and always nice to check, especially in winter. Moreover, you can cycle all the way around it and the reservoir is therefore easy to explore. The Petrusplaat is one of the three reservoirs for the preparation of drinking water for, among others, the city of Rotterdam and the surrounding area. This basin has an area of 106 hectares. Like many other places in the Biesbosch National Park, it is rich in birds. You can overlook the lake from a viewing hill or, if you have enough time, take a walk around it or cycle around it (5 km). Among the birds you can see here are Pygargue à queue blanche, Balbuzard pêcheur, Harle piette, Harle bièvre, Garrot à oeil d'or, Grèbe castagneux, Grèbe esclavon, Grèbe à cou noir, Fuligule milouin, Fuligule morillon, Coucou gris, Loriot d'Europe and Rossignol philomèle.

Bovendien kun je er helemaal omheen fietsen en de plas is dus gemakkelijk te verkennen. De Petrusplaat is een van de drie spaarbekkens voor de bereiding van drinkwater voor onder andere Rotterdam en omgeving. Dit bekken heeft een oppervlakte van 106 hectare. Zoals veel andere plekken in Nationaal Park de Biesbosch is het rijk aan vogels. Je kunt vanaf een uitkijkheuvel de plas overzien of als je tijd genoeg hebt een wandeling er omheen maken of er omheen fietsen (5 km).
