Along the Brekkenpaad you can hear thousands of Canard siffleur whistling on the lake in the winter months. On the north side of the area the are wet meadows that are rich in nutrients and attract many birds. The entire path is very rich in birds in every season, highly recommended! Among the birds you can see along the way are Oie rieuse, Oie à bec court, Bernache nonnette, Tadorne de Belon, Canard souchet, Sarcelle d'hiver, Harle piette, Huîtrier pie, Vanneau huppé, Barge rousse, Barge à queue noire, Combattant varié, Bécassine des marais, Butor étoilé, Spatule blanche, Phragmite des joncs,Bergeronnette printanière, Pipit farlouse, Chardonneret élégant and Bruant des roseaux.
