The Oostelijke Binnenpolder and polder Achteraf are located on the transition from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug to the low peat lakes of the Vecht region. The area consists of a beautiful mix of lakes, pet holes, grasslands, hay meadows, bushes and woods. Especially in the spring and summer there are many beautiful species to see and hear. Héron pourpré and Guifette noire can almost always be seen in this period, species such as Butor étoilé, Râle d'eau and Marouette ponctuée also occur, but are more difficult to see. Phragmite des joncs, Locustelle luscinioïde, Locustelle tachetée and Gorgebleue à miroir are also common. Autumn and winter more quiet in terms of birds, but nice winter guests such as Pie-grièche grise and Harle piette can be seen regularly.

Nederlands: Landschappelijk fraai gebied met goede kans op moerasvogels als zwarte stern, roerdomp en purperreiger. De Oostelijke Binnenpolder en polder Achteraf liggen op de overgang van de Utrechtse Heuvelrug naar de laagveenplassen van de Vechtstreek. Het gebied bestaat uit een mooie mix van plassen, petgaten, schraalgraslanden, hooilanden, ruigtes en bos. Vooral in het voorjaar en de zomer zijn er veel mooie soorten te zien en te horen. Purperreiger en zwarte stern zijn in deze periode vrijwel altijd te zien, soorten als roerdomp, waterral en porseleinhoen komen ook voor, maar zijn lastiger te zien. Rietzanger, snor, sprinkhaanzanger en blauwborst komen ook veelvuldig voor. De herfst en winter zijn rustiger qua vogels, maar leuke wintergasten als klapekster en nonnetje zijn regelmatig te zien.

The area is accessible on foot and by bicycle via the Dwarsdijk and Kanaaldijk. The nearest parking lot is located on Laan van Nifterlake in Tienhoven. Park as close as possible to the intersection / right-angle bend with the Nieuweweg. From this bend a footpath runs through the Tienhovense plassen to the Binnenpolder, or cross the Dwarsdijk towards the area. Another option is to park at the Vredegoed museum at 7 Heuvellaan in Tienhoven. A path runs from this location that partly goes through the Binnenpolder. A larger circular walk that also includes the Westbroekse Zodden is also possible from this location.

Nederlands: Het gebied is toegankelijk te voet en met de fiets via de Dwarsdijk en Kanaaldijk. De dichtstbijzijnde parkeerplaats ligt aan de Laan van Nifterlake in Tienhoven. Parkeer zo dicht mogelijk bij de kruising/haakse bocht met de Nieuweweg. Vanaf deze bocht loopt een wandelpad door de Tienhovense plassen naar de Binnenpolder, of ga over de Dwarsdijk richting het gebied. Een andere optie is om te parkeren bij museum Vredegoed aan de Heuvellaan 7 in Tienhoven. Vanaf deze locatie loopt een klompenpad dat deels door de Binnenpolder gaat. Een grotere rondwandeling waarbij ook de Westbroekse Zodden aangedaan worden, is ook mogelijk vanaf deze locatie.
