The Ooijse Graaf is an example of a typical Dutch river landscape. The marsh is an old river arm of the river Waal, which nowadays flows a little further on. Because it used to be a river the Ooijse Graaf is an elongated nature reserve of ponds surrounded by trees and reed beds. Birds you can see in the area include Butor étoilé, Gorgebleue à miroir, Bruant des roseaux, Oie rieuse, Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Rossignol philomèle, Bouscarle de Cetti, Autour des palombes, Spatule blanche, Grand Cormoran, Grande Aigrette, Sarcelle d'hiver and Guifette noire.

Nederlands: De Ooijse Graaf is een moeras dat gevoed wordt door kwelwater vanuit de heuvels. Het gebied is een dode rivierarm van de Waal die hier lang geleden stroomde. Een typisch Nederlands rivierenlandschap. Het is een langgerekt natuurgebied van waterpartijen die zijn omzoomd door hoge bomen en rietvelden. Vogels die je in het gebied kunt zien zijn onder meer Butor étoilé, Gorgebleue à miroir, Oie rieuse, Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Rossignol philomèle, Bouscarle de Cetti, Autour des palombes, Spatule blanche, Grand Cormoran, Grande Aigrette, Bruant des roseaux, Sarcelle d'hiver en Guifette noire.

The nature reserve itself is not accessible, but most parts can be viewed well from the public road and the cycle path (watch the traffic, especially the cycle path can sometimes be busy with cycling students). The area is best explored on foot. You can also do it by bicycle. The Thornsche Molen is nearby. A nice restaurant (not expensive and good cuisine, but you can also get a cup of coffee with a slice of cake) with ample parking. Click on the P in the map for directions.

Nederlands: Het natuurgebied zelf is niet toegankelijk, maar de meeste delen zijn vanaf de openbare weg en het fietspad goed te bekijken (let wel op het verkeer, vooral het fietspad kan soms druk zijn met fietsende scholieren). Het beste te voet te verkennen. Met de fiets kan het ook. Vlak in de buurt is de Thornsche molen. Een leuk en gezellig restaurant (niet duur en goede keuken, maar een kop koffie met een punt taart is er ook te krijgen) met ruime parkeergelegenheid.
