When you're on your way to the Afsluitdijk or Sneek, and in want to see Hirondelle de rivage, make sure to stop here. The wall is newly placed a few years ago and the small wetland is kept in order to accomodate the stay of this swallow. Reeds on either side of the narrow path in high summer, all kinds of native wildflowers in spring and early summer. in the fields surrounding the village you can possibly spot Grande Aigrette and Vanneau huppé. maybe some Barge à queue noire or Avocette élégante. When you have more time, take the whole route through the village to take a look at the old church. On summer evenings one can hear and spot the Hibou moyen-duc who inhabit the big old trees surrounding the monumental building on its island.

Nederlands: Klein wetland nabij de snelweg. Gemakkelijk te voet bereikbaar. Ideaal voor een korte ronde. Nieuw geplaatste muur voor oeverzwaluw om te nestelen. Ben je onderweg naar de Afsluitdijk of Sneek en wil je oeverzwaluwen zien, dan is dit een goede plek. De oeverzwaluwwand is een paar jaar geleden nieuw geplaatst en het kleine moerasland wordt beschermd. Riet aan weerszijden van het smalle pad in de zomer, allerlei inheemse wilde bloemen in de lente en vroege zomer. In de velden rondom het dorp kun je mogelijk zilverreigers en kieviten zien. misschien wat Grutto of Kluut. Als je meer tijd hebt, neem dan de hele route door het dorp om de oude kerk te bekijken. Op zomeravonden kan je de uilen horen en zien die in de grote oude bomen rond het monumentale gebouw op het eiland wonen.
