Oud Naarden is managed as a nature reserve. It has a varied landscape with coniferous and deciduous forest, swamp forest, reed vegetation and meadows. There is a special gradient from coast to moraine. A cliff of approximately 3 meters high indicates to where the former Zuiderzee has calved the land. This process came to a standstill after the construction of the Afsluitdijk. The wooded estate has a very valuable flora and fauna. In the forest there is a good chance of seeing Pic épeichette, Pic noir, Pic vert, Pic épeiche, Bouvreuil pivoine, Rossignol philomèle and Mésange nonnette. Near the reeds and the water there is a chance of birds such as Cygne de Bewick, Garrot à oeil d'or, Canard pilet, Spatule blanche and Busard des roseaux.

Nederlands: Oud Naarden is een landgoed en natuurgebied van 60 hectare bos en weide aan het Gooimeer bij Huizen. Het vrij toegankelijke gebied wordt beheerd als natuurgebied. Het heeft een gevarieerd landschap met naaldbos en loofbos, moerasbos, rietvegetatie en weilanden. Er is een bijzondere gradiënt van kust naar stuwwal te zien. Een klif van circa 3 meter hoog geeft aan tot waar de Zuiderzee het land heeft afgekalft. Na de aanleg van de afsluitdijk is dit proces tot stilstand gekomen. Het bosrijke landgoed heeft een zeer waardevolle flora en fauna. In het bos goede kans op het zien van kleine bonte specht, zwarte specht, groene specht, grote bonte specht, goudvink, nachtegaal en glanskop. Bij het riet en aan het water kans op vogels als kleine zwaan, brilduiker, pijlstaart, lepelaar en bruine kiekendief.
