The Kwistenburg nature reserve is located on the Veerse Meer. Tides used to have free rein here, but now the estuary is closed on both sides. Salt water became brackish. The salt water that now flows into the Veerse Meer is insufficient to give the original riparian vegetation a serious chance. As a result, nature changed from tidal area to grassland. In the winter Canard siffleur, Oie rieuse and Bernache cravant.spend the night here. The mudflats and grassy salt marshes of Kwistenburg are a very good area for seeing many waders and duck species. You have a good view because the sun is in the back. Binoculars are fine, but telescope is better in this place. There is a screen to keep you a bit out of the wind. Other birds that you can see here are Bécasseau maubèche, Canard pilet, Pluvier argenté, Grand Gravelot, Courlis cendré, Huîtrier pie, Chevalier gambette, Faucon pèlerin, Garrot à oeil d'or and Grèbe à cou noir.

Nederlands: Natuurgebied Kwistenburg ligt aan het Veerse Meer. Vroeger hadden eb en vloed hier vrij spel, maar nu is de zeearm aan twee kanten afgesloten. Zout water werd brak. Het zoute water dat nu het Veerse Meer binnen stroomt, is onvoldoende om de oorspronkelijke oevervegetatie een serieuze kans te geven. Daarmee veranderde de natuur van getijdengebied naar grasland. In de winter overnachten hier Canard siffleur, Oie rieuse en Bernache cravant. De slikken en met gras begroeide schorren van Kwistenburg zijn een goed gebied voor het zien van veel steltlopers en eendensoorten. Je hebt er goed zicht omdat de zon in de rug staat. Een verrekijker is prima, maar telescoop is nog beter op deze plek. Er is een scherm om iets uit de wind te staan. Andere vogels die je hier kunt zien zijn Bécasseau maubèche, Canard pilet, Pluvier argenté, Grand Gravelot, Courlis cendré, Huîtrier pie, Chevalier gambette, Faucon pèlerin, Garrot à oeil d'or en Grèbe à cou noir.
