Description

The Kippenkade, literally translated "Chicken Quay", is a small and narrow track through a typical Dutch polder landscape and adjacent to the 's Gravenkoop lake, which is part of the larger Reeuwijkse Plassen area. The track is used by local residents to get to their holiday residences, although this isn't frequent. The track is surrounded by trees, small reedbeds and waterways.

The reedbeds provide a great oppurtinity to find Bouscarle de Cetti, Gorgebleue à miroir and Phragmite des joncs, besides more common species like Bruant des roseaux and Rousserolle effarvatte. The scattered trees and bushes are great for Hypolaïs ictérine, Fauvette babillarde and Fauvette grisette. The gardens of the present residences are good for small flocks of Moineau friquet.

The surrounding polders are great for large flocks of geese in the winter months. Large numbers of Bernache nonnette are present here and sometimes rare species like Bernache à cou roux and Oie de Ross can be spotted within these flocks. During the breeding season, the polders are great for typical waders like Chevalier gambette, Barge à queue noire and Combattant varié. Large flocks of Bergeronnette printanière can be present too. Foraging Héron pourpré can be seen next to the ditches. The track itself is a good spot for grass snakes.

The 's Gravenkoop lake is a great spot for Guifette noire. They tend to hang around here just before flying to their breeding area in the polders. Large numbers can be seen foraging above the lake. Sometimes, species like Guifette leucoptère and Mouette pygmée can be spotted too.
