Between Haven Battenoord and the monument on the Grevelingendam you can find overwintering Flamant rose that come here from Germany from the end of July. The banks of lake Grevelingenmeer have reed beds and rocks. The Flamingos can be found between the dikes. Besides the European Flamingo, also Chilean Flamingos and hybrid forms can be found. Of course, beside flamingos there are also other bird species to be seen on the water.

Nederlands: Het Grevelingenmeer heeft rietland en rotsen aan de oevers. Tussen het monument op de Grevelingendam en Haven Battenoord kijk je vanaf de dijk uit op de Flamingo's die vanuit Duitsland hier vanaf eind juli komen overwinteren. De Flamingos bevinden zich tussen de dijken. Behalve de Europese Flamant rose zitten er ook Chileense Flamingo's tussen en hybride vormen. Er zijn natuurlijk ook nog diverse andere vogelsoorten op het water te zien.

The Grevelingenmeer can be reached by car via the N59. Park at the Grevelingendam on the Strandweg. Then walk to the monument via the cycle path for about 1 km. This is also possible by bike or in a wheelchair. You will automatically see the pink looming. The flamingos can also stay around the Battenoord harbour. This can be reached by car where you can also park. There is a small lookout tower in the harbour. The cycle path from the Grevelingendam to the harbour of Battenoord is approximately 5 km.

Nederlands: Het Grevelingenmeer is bereikbaar met de auto over de N59. Parkeren op de Grevelingendam aan de Strandweg. Daarna via het fietspad naar het monument lopen ongeveer 1 km. Dat kan ook te fiets of in de rolstoel. Het grootste gedeelte ben je op een fietspad welke verhard is. Je ziet vanzelf het roze opdoemen. Ook kunnen ze rond het haventje Battenoord zitten. Dit is te bereiken met de auto waar je ook kunt parkeren. In de haven is een kleine uitkijktoren. Je kunt ook over het fietspad van de Grevelingendam naar het haventje van Battenoord, dat is een afstand van ongeveer 5 km.
