The marina, campsite and pumping station near the village of Electra form a very nice, varied area. There are many small songbirds at the campsite. Many water birds can be seen in the marina. And there are also many nice bird species to discover around the old lock and the Reitdiep. In the Reitdiep and the surrounding waters in winter you can discover Harle bièvre and Harle piette. Also good chances at various places on Martin-pêcheur d'Europe. From the old lock you have a beautiful view over the meadows where, among other birds, Vanneau huppé, Chevalier gambette and Huîtrier pie can be seen. Different species of harriers can almost always be seen there too. At the pumping station, look for the nesting Faucon crécerelle.

Nederlands: De jachthaven, camping en gemaal bij het dorp Electra vormen een erg leuk, afwisselend gebied. Op de camping zijn veel kleine zangvogels te vinden. In de jachthaven zijn veel watervogels te zien. Rondom de oude sluis en het Reitdiep zijn ook veel leuke vogelsoorten te ontdekken. In het Reitdiep en de omliggende watertjes kun je in de winterHarle bièvre en Harle piette ontdekken. Ook goede kans op diverse plekken op Martin-pêcheur d'Europe. Vanaf de oude sluis heb je mooi uitzicht over de weilanden waar in de lente en zomer onder meer Vanneau huppé, Chevalier gambette en Huîtrier pie te zien zijn. Hier zijn ook bijna altijd verschillende soorten kiekendieven te zien. Kijk bij het gemaal naar de nestelende Faucon crécerelle.

The village of Electra is located southeast of the town of Zoutkamp and near the Lauwersmeer National Park. Parking available at 'de Waterwolf' campsite or in the village. Click on a P on the map for directions to a parking lot.
