Description
The Buskersbos is a small but very beautiful deciduous forest with large oaks and beech trees located on the winding stream Boven-Slinge. Five species of woodpeckers live in the forest and along the stream you have a chance to see Martin-pêcheur d'Europe and Bergeronnette des ruisseaux. Part of the walk runs over a high dike, so that you can look into the forest from that high position and you can often observe and photograph the woodpeckers very well. In the forest you also have a good chance of Gros-bec casse-noyaux, Mésange nonnette, Sittelle torchepot, Fauvette à tête noire and in winter Grive mauvis.

Nederlands: Mooie wandeling van 3,5 km door het relatief onbekende Buskersbos. Een niet zo groot maar wel erg fraai stuk loofbos met grote eiken en beuken en gelegen aan de kronkelende beek Boven-Slinge. In het bos leven vijf soorten spechten en langs de beek maak je kans op Martin-pêcheur d'Europe en Bergeronnette des ruisseaux. Een deel van de wandeling loopt over een hoge dijk waardoor je vanuit die hoge positie het bos in kijkt en je de spechten vaak mooi kunt observeren en fotograferen. In het bos heb je ook goede kans op Gros-bec casse-noyaux, Mésange nonnette, Sittelle torchepot, Fauvette à tête noire en in de winter Grive mauvis.

You can park in the parking lot of bungalow park Het Winkel. Click on the P in the map for directions. From the parking lot, walk 100 meters over the paved road and turn right into the unpaved path at the sign 'Borkense Baan'. After crossing the Boven-Slinge stream, you can start the circular walk around the forest and along the stream.

Nederlands: Parkeren kan op het parkeerterrein van bungalowpark Het Winkel. Klik op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving. Vanaf het parkeerterrein loop je 100 meter over de verharde weg en sla je rechtsaf het onverharde pad in bij het bord 'Borkense Baan'. Nadat je de beek Boven-Slinge bent overgestoken kun je aan de rondwandeling om het bos en langs de beek beginnen.

Early spring is the best period. There are still no leaves on the trees and the woodpeckers are very active.
