The Bentwoud is a new nature and recreation area between Zoetermeer and Boskoop. In recent years, 2.5 million trees and shrubs have been planted and 80 kilometers of walking and cycling paths have been constructed. The Bentwoud is the largest contiguous forest area in the Randstad (the central city area in The Netherlands) with more than 800 hectares. Although the Bentwoud is still in full development, there are already many special birds, butterflies and plants to be found.
Among the birds you can see here are Butor étoilé, Gorgebleue à miroir, many geese and ducks, Chevêche d'Athéna and also different species of herons and many Coucou gris. And more rare species are sometimes seen here like Nette rousse, Fuligule nyroca, Échasse blanche, Blongios nain, Héron pourpré, Bihoreau gris Spatule blanche, Bondrée apivore, Busard des roseaux, Busard Saint-Martin, Loriot d'Europe.

Nederlands: Het Bentwoud is een nieuw natuur- en recreatiegebied tussen Zoetermeer en Boskoop. De afgelopen jaren zijn er 2,5 miljoen bomen en struiken geplant en 80 kilometer aan wandel- en fietspaden aangelegd. Het Bentwoud is met ruim 800 hectare het grootste aaneengesloten bosgebied in de Randstad. Hoewel het Bentwoud nog volop in ontwikkeling is, zijn er al veel bijzondere vogels, vlinders en planten te vinden.
Vogels die je hier kunt tegenkomen zijn Butor étoilé, Gorgebleue à miroir, veel ganzen en eenden, Chevêche d'Athéna en ook verschillende soorten reigers en veel Coucou gris. En soms worden hier ook meer zeldzame soorten gezien zoals Nette rousse, Fuligule nyroca, Échasse blanche, Blongios nain, Héron pourpré, Bihoreau gris Spatule blanche, Bondrée apivore, Busard des roseaux, Busard Saint-Martin, Loriot d'Europe.
