On top of the Wageningse berg (Wageningen hill) lies the Arboretum Belmonte, the botanical garden from Wageningen University. As it hosts a large amount of different trees and shrubbery many different birds can be found, bridging the gap between nature and culture landscape. Some of the highlight species are Pic épeiche, Pic mar, Pic épeichette, Bouvreuil pivoine and Gros-bec casse-noyaux.

Nederlands: Bovenop de Wageningse berg ligt het Arboretum Belmonte, de botanische tuin van de Wageningen Universiteit. Omdat er een grote hoeveelheid verschillende bomen en struiken voorkomen, zijn er veel verschillende vogels te vinden, waardoor de kloof tussen natuur- en cultuurlandschap wordt overbrugd. Enkele van de leuke soorten zijn Pic épeiche, Pic mar, Pic épeichette, Bouvreuil pivoine en Gros-bec casse-noyaux.

The Belmonte Arboretum is open year-round, seven days a week, from sunrise to sunset. Entrance is free, a donation is greatly appreciated. Best to go by bike (the real Dutch way) or park your car in front of the entrance. Click on the P in the map for directions. Public transport: Via Arnhem train station: Take bus 352 direction Wageningen, get off at Bus stop ‘Wageningse Berg’ and walk the final 500 meters along Generaal Foulkesweg to the entrance of the garden. Via train station Ede Wageningen: Take bus 86 to Wageningen Bus station, transfer to bus 51 destination Arnhem CS; get off at bus station ‘Wageningse Berg’ and walk the final 500 meters along the Generaal Foulkesweg to the entrance of the garden. You can explore the garden freely. There is a public toilet and a cafe.
