A very green park located in the shadow of the large Koutoubia mosque; a great spot to observe many species of bird in the middle of the city.
Parc Lalla Hasna is a large city park near the city centre of Marrakech. It is located right next to the large Koutoubia mosque and the large El Fna square. It's a great place to observe many species of songbird in this very green part of the city. The park is divided by several pathways all leading to the fountain in the center of the park. The rest of the park contains many trees, bushes and flowerbeds.
The (palm)trees are used by common species of songbird, like Bulbul des jardins, Étourneau unicolore and Bruant du Sahara. Other scarcer species, like Pie-grièche grise and Hypolaïs obscure, can be found in especially the more quiet areas near the edges of the park. If you're lucky, the very beautiful Rougequeue de Moussier might show itself!
Flocks of swifts, being mainly Martinet pâle and Martinet des maisons, tend to hang around the mosque tower and also over the park. Sometimes a Martinet noir or Martinet à ventre blanc can be found within these flocks.
Also predatory birds can be observed above the park, like Aigle botté and Milan noir. Faucon crécerelle can be found perching on (mostly) palm trees.
The area is easy accessable and the park is free to enter. You can just walk around on the pathways.
