Description
The Byblos archaeological site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and holds layers of civilizations dating back to 8800 BC. It was a major Phoenician port city, known for its trade with Ancient Egypt, particularly in cedar wood. The Byblos Ruins are a nice place to watch birds. Good chances of spotting Souimanga de Palestine, Bulbul d'Arabie, Prinia gracile, Tourterelle maillée, Fauvette mélanocéphale and Verdier d'Europe, but many more birds can show up here, especially during spring migration. Byblos Archaeological Site is located in the town of Byblos, approximately 42 km north of Beirut. The Archaeological Site is open Monday to Thursday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and Saturday & Sunday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Entry fee is € 10.
