Riserva Naturale del Mulino Vecchio protects the stretch of the Dora Baltea river and the territory that surrounds it between the Padana Superiore road and the A4 motorway. The area, eroded by the river over the millennia, creating a typical and vast river depression, is located at a lower altitude than the surrounding alluvial terrace. The landscape is characterized by wide gravel and beaches and interesting wooded areas with riparian vegetation (poplars, willows, alders, etc.) and poplar groves surrounded by arable land and meadows. It is a quiet place where if you have a little patience you can make some beautiful observations. Among the birds you can encounter are Héron cendré, Grande Aigrette, Aigrette garzette, Chevalier guignette, Chevalier culblanc, Chevalier aboyeur, Guêpier d'Europe, Tourterelle des bois and Buse variable.

Italiano: La riserva si estende ad est dell'abitato di Rondissone, su una superficie complessiva di 203,62 ettari, al confine fra le Province di Torino e Vercelli e nei Comuni di Mazzè, Rondissone e Saluggia. La riserva tutela il tratto del fiume Dora Baltea e del territorio che lo circonda compreso fra la strada Padana Superiore e l'autostrada A4. La zona, erosa dal fiume nel corso dei millenni, creando un tipico e vasto avvallamento fluviale, si trova ad una quota inferiore rispetto al terrazzo alluvionale circostante. Il paesaggio è caratterizzato da ampi ghiareti e spiagge e da interessanti aree boschive con vegetazione di ripa (pioppi, salici, ontani, ecc.) e da pioppeti o robinieti circondati da seminativi e prati. Un luogo tranquillo dove se si ha un po di pazienaza si possono fare delle belle osservazioni.

Riserva Naturale del Mulino Vecchio is located to the east of the town of Rondissone. By car you can get close to the Dora Baltea river. Best to explore the area on foot.
