Parco Le Folaghe or Oasi Sovracomunale le Folaghe is a wetland that is located on the migratory routes of many birds. Combined with the variety of environments (shallow and deep waters, wooded areas, within a large area used for intensive agriculture) this attracts many birds. More than 260 bird species have been recorded. From the only observation hide south of the lake, with a telescope, you can observe: waders like Bécasseau variable, Bécassine des marais, Chevalier guignette, Chevalier sylvain and Chevalier culblanc, herons like Aigrette garzette, Héron pourpré, Crabier chevelu, Bihoreau gris and Grande Aigrette. The area has great potential for viewing aquatic species and passerines in the neighboring bush. Difficult to take good photographs if you do not have very strong telescopic lenses.

Italiano: L'area è costituita da una ex-cava di argilla riempita d'acqua, con limo e vegetazione palustre a circondarla. Accesso comodo da una strada bianca. Dall'unico capanno di osservazione a sud del lago, con un cannocchiale, si possono osservare: limicoli come Bécasseau variable, Bécassine des marais, Chevalier guignette, Chevalier sylvain e Chevalier culblanc, aironi come la Aigrette garzette, Héron pourpré, Crabier chevelu, Bihoreau gris e l' Grande Aigrette. L'area ha un grande potenziale per l'osservazione di specie acquatiche e passeriformi nei cespugli limitrofi. Difficile fare buone fotografie se non si è in possesso di obiettivi telescopici molto spinti.

Take the A21 motorway to the Voghera exit, then from the town of Casei Gerola, continue following the signs for Silvano Pietra, then turn right onto a dirt road which leads to the bird hide after 400-500 meters. A circular route around the area is 3 km.
