Lido di Staranzano has a rich variety of different species throughout the year. It is an important resting place for spring and autumn migration. In spring you can see a greater amount of different species of migrants reaching the nesting sites such as waders, passerines, birds of prey, etc. The best time to spot waders is during low tide when large sandy areas form (see a link to the tides table below). The area is also important for the wintering of many ducks and also some Nordic species such as Oie rieuse, Plongeon arctique and Macreuse noire to name a few. Among the most common species are Courlis cendré, Bécasseau variable, Pluvier argenté, Canard chipeau, Canard colvert, Canard siffleur, Foulque macroule and Cygne tuberculé. In recent years Pygargue à queue blanche is often observed.

Italiano: Una camminata molto bella e facile da fare in un luogo ricco di habitat diversi tra mare, foce dell'Isonzo e boschi planiziali. Il posto ha una ricca varietà di specie differenti durante tutto l'arco dell'anno, è un importante zona di ristoro per la migrazione primaverile e autunnale. In primavera possiamo vedere una maggiore quantità di specie diverse di migratori che raggiungono i siti di nidificazione come limicoli, passeriformi, rapaci, ecc
I momenti migliori per avvistare i limicoli sono durante i momenti di bassa mare quando si formano vaste zone sabbiose. La zona è inoltre importanteper lo svernamento di molti anatidi e anche di alcune specie nordiche tra le quali si possono trovare Oie rieuse, Plongeon arctique e Macreuse noire per citarne alcuni. Tra le specie più comuni Courlis cendré, Bécasseau variable, Pluvier argenté, Canard chipeau, Canard colvert, Canard siffleur, Foulque macroule, Cygne tuberculé. Negli ultimi anni è stata avvistata, ed anch'io l'ho vista un paio di volte, come svernante l' Pygargue à queue blanche.

The Lido di Staranzano can be easily reached by car or bicycle and there is a large car park available on site. Click on the P in the map for directions to the car park. It is a 4 km circular route that I recommend doing on foot so you can hear the various songs of the birds and have a 360° view. There are many areas full of bushes, canals and small rows of reeds where you can observe Râle d'eau, Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Cisticole des joncs and many others.

Italiano: Il lido di Staranzano si può raggiungere facilmente in macchina oppure anche in biciletta e c'è un grande parcheggio disponibile in loco. E un percorso (4 km) ad anello che consiglio di fare a piedi così da poter sentire i vari canti degli uccelli ed avere una visione a 360°. Ci sono molte zone ricche di cespugli, canali e piccoli filari di cannuccia palustre dove poter osservare Râle d'eau, Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Cisticole des joncs e molti altri.
